warby parker + mixed materials

Today’s post is a cool one because it’s all about Warby Parker. Warby Parker is an eyeglass company, specializing in unique, chic, and classic eyeglasses and sunglasses. When you purchase a pair of eyeglasses or sunglasses, they donate a pair of glasses to someone in need. I first heard about WP from one of my favorite writer friends, who always seemed to have the cutest glasses. She directed me to the lovely land of Warby  (where I promptly ordered a free home try-on) and I fell in love. My husband and I both own pairs of Warby Parker frames and we are huge fans.

Excitedly, I wrote a quick piece over their newest collection that is launching today: the mixed-materials collection. The glasses are stunning and focus on a retro yet modern, aesthetic. They are releasing this collection just in time for summer, with both new sunglasses and eyeglasses for purchase. I love them because they are flashback of the 50’s but still modern enough for 2017.

I personally love the Elliot frames. They are just round enough to look flattering on a round or semi round face (which I have!) but bold enough to give the face some dimension and shape. Paired with my favorite little black dress from Madewell, or my favorite ripped jeans and a chambray shirt, these glasses would complete the look perfectly!

I mean seriously, how cool are these?!

I am in the market for new glasses and I just added these to my wish list. To learn more about Warby Parker and their new mixed-materials collection, head on over to the links I have in this post. Also, be sure to check them out on Instagram and Facebook.

**If you are local to OKC and want some Warby Parker in your life, check out Shop Good. They have the entire Warby Parker collection in store, for you to try on and test out. They also do fittings.

Happy shopping!

Cozy Winter Clothes + Accessories

This weekend, I took  advantage of our recent snowy, winter-y day, camera in hand, husband in tow, to show you some of my most favorite winter wardrobe staples. Some of them were Christmas gifts, so you may be able to find almost everything I have on still on the websites. Right. To the snow, we go!

What I’m wearing:

+ ASOS Coat (details below)

+ H&M Oversized Striped Top

+ Topshop Leigh Jeans

+ Franco Sarto Riding Boots

+ New Look Leather Look Cardigan (details below)

+ ASOS Oversized Scarf in Check (details below)

+ Beanie from Forever 21 Men (borrowed from my lovely husband)

One of my big wardrobe wishes for this year was for a new coat. I’d had my GUESS peacoat since I was in high school, wearing the crap out of that thing every winter. It was time to retire it, I think. So this year, taking advantage of the ASOS sales, my husband bought me the ASOS Duffle Coat with Clean Detail Faux Fur Hood. It’s the exact thing I was looking for; heavy, warm and cozy, with a massive faux fur hood. I chose black , but they also have a beautiful cream color. The front buttons all the way up to the neck, so if you forego a scarf, you’ll still keep your neck warm. It also has toggle fastening on the front, as an added detail. I love this coat so much. It’s roomy, fits perfectly, and keeps me super warm. PS. (This coat is on sale for $65 right now, marked down from $161, on asos.com. Super bargain!)

Another gift I received from my husband for Christmas was the New Look Leather Look Cardigan, which has become my most favorite cardigan I own. It’s cozy but with interesting detail. The sleeves have leather patches, and the front has a couple zippers, that aren’t there for any other reason than simple to look cool. It’s long, so it covers your bum, which is always a good thing. I’ve worn this cardigan almost everyday this month, and so many people have been asking me where I got it from. Good news: this is on sale right now on ASOS as well!

The last item I’ll discuss in detail was a gift from my sister and brother-in-law. My sister and I are huge lovers of Asos, H&M, and Topshop, and this year I asked for a scarf from ASOS, one that I had seen Fleur, from FleurDeForce wear like a million times. It’s a huge, massive, blanket scarf, in a check print. It’s a cream based scarf, with grey, burgundy, and blue running through it. And I am not kidding when I say this thing is massive. It’s kind of like carrying a small blanket around with me, but a cozy, wearable one. It’s the greatest thing, and I am glad it’s so cold, because it means I can use it all the time! Unfortunately, almost every one of these scarves is sold out online.

I have to say thank you to my wonderful camera-man, which is my husband, for braving the cold in his shorts to run out and snap some pics for me. After our picture taking session, we ran inside, grabbed some hot coffee, and curled up on the couch.

I’d love to hear about what you received for Christmas, and what your favorite shops are for winter wear.

Hope you guys had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

The jumper.

I typically am one of those people who experiences “buyer’s remorse” quite often, meaning that sometimes I’ll see something in a store that I like and pass it up, only later to regret it. This happens especially often when I go to stores like TJ Maxx or Marshall’s, because they only have so many of one thing. But not this time….

Thankfully, I didn’t pass up this Between Me and You Cowl-Neck Jumper. It’s a long, over-sized light jumper, with a beautiful cowl-neck. The sleeves are a light khaki, while the main part of the sweater is a light grey, It’s cozy but light, perfect for autumn weather. Paired with some leggings (I’m wearing a RBX pair, also found at Marshall’s), and Nike Free Run tennis shoes, or with my favorite jeans and cute boots, I’m set for a comfy, casual day. Unfortunately, I can’t see to find a website for this particular brand. If you are able to, let me know. Otherwise, grab a scarf and your keys, and pop on over to your nearest Marshall’s. Trust me, this is one jumper you don’t want to pass up.

Birthday Bags

For my birthday, I picked up two beautiful bags and I thought I would share them with you! Using a gift card from my work girls (thanks ladies!!), and some birthday gift money, I chose to update ny handbag situation. I actually don’t own too many purses, aside from two Vera Bradley Hipsters, and a Kate Spade “Eat Cake for Breakfast” tote, which I love. I was on the hunt for a nice everyday carry purse, preferably black. I also wanted a sleek clutch or a small bag to carry to weddings, parties, and dates, that wasn’t too fussy. With that in mind, I went on a browse.

I am a huge online shopper, so naturally I chose to check out the sites first. I happened to find myself on ASOS, drooling over their bags, when I saw it. On a major sale. The Whistles Rivington Clutch in the most beautiful, bright coral. Now, I have been dreaming of owning a Whistles clutch for some time now, ever since I saw Anna, from viviannadoesmakeup.com with her gorgeous Whistles collection of leather goods. This clutch was marked down like 70% or something crazy, and I may or may not have had a mini freak out, before quickly submitting an order. I am so happy with this clutch. Not only is it bigger than I though it would be, it came with a chain to be able to worn as a small bag. It’s sleek, bright, and incredibly roomy for a clutch bag. Whistles does a great job of creating beautiful bags and I am so excited to be the owner of one! Sadly, I can’t seem to find this exact one on the ASOS site anymore, but they do have other beauties on their site. If you are in the market for a nice clutch, I highly recommend this brand.

Next up, the handbag.

The next bag I picked up was from TJ Maxx. They have a great selection of high-end, brand name bags for a good deal less than their original price. I picked up an Olivia + Joy black handbag with gold hardware. It;s a beautiful, roomy, heavy bag, with lots of pocket’s and an envelope style pocket on the bag. It’s a nice size, and my Whistles clutch even fits inside of it! This bag is perfect to carry everyday, to keep all my contents organized, and it is just a great bag to carry all around.

I promise this is the last birthday related post I will post. This year. Let me know what you think of the bags!

Happy weekend!

Boot Season

Cooler weather is hopefully in our near future, and with autumn on its way, a nice pair of boots is always good to have on hand. I was browsing the Topshop website a few weeks ago, ordering a few fall time essentials, and happened upon this pair of boots. My favorite pair of ankle boots were beginning to look a little rough, and since these were on a major sale (regularly $90 and are on sale for $24!!), I decided to go for them. And I am so glad I did.

+Topshop MONTI2 Cutout Boot in Taupe

These little boots are so perfect for fall. They have a pretty cutout with two straps, making them a little more interesting than just a pull on/zip boot. They are so comfortable, and pair easily with any outfit. They have a slight heel, and are made from a beautiful suede material. I love these boots, and I can tell that I am going to get a lot of wear out of these this fall.  I’ll be hard pressed to find another boot that I like as much as these.

Let me know in the comments what your favorite pair of boots are! Are you ankle boot or a high knee, or somewhere in between?
