warby parker + mixed materials

Today’s post is a cool one because it’s all about Warby Parker. Warby Parker is an eyeglass company, specializing in unique, chic, and classic eyeglasses and sunglasses. When you purchase a pair of eyeglasses or sunglasses, they donate a pair of glasses to someone in need. I first heard about WP from one of my favorite writer friends, who always seemed to have the cutest glasses. She directed me to the lovely land of Warby  (where I promptly ordered a free home try-on) and I fell in love. My husband and I both own pairs of Warby Parker frames and we are huge fans.

Excitedly, I wrote a quick piece over their newest collection that is launching today: the mixed-materials collection. The glasses are stunning and focus on a retro yet modern, aesthetic. They are releasing this collection just in time for summer, with both new sunglasses and eyeglasses for purchase. I love them because they are flashback of the 50’s but still modern enough for 2017.

I personally love the Elliot frames. They are just round enough to look flattering on a round or semi round face (which I have!) but bold enough to give the face some dimension and shape. Paired with my favorite little black dress from Madewell, or my favorite ripped jeans and a chambray shirt, these glasses would complete the look perfectly!

I mean seriously, how cool are these?!

I am in the market for new glasses and I just added these to my wish list. To learn more about Warby Parker and their new mixed-materials collection, head on over to the links I have in this post. Also, be sure to check them out on Instagram and Facebook.

**If you are local to OKC and want some Warby Parker in your life, check out Shop Good. They have the entire Warby Parker collection in store, for you to try on and test out. They also do fittings.

Happy shopping!

January Favorites

Hi lovelies!

It’s a bit early to do January Favorites, but I’m in the mood for a blog post so here it goes!

Processed with VSCO with f2 presetMy skin has been so dry lately, thanks to winter, and I have a couple things I’ve been using that are making my skin feel a bit more normal. First up, is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. I use this in the morning and at night. It’s light enough to wear under my makeup. Non-greasy, super hydrating, and doesn’t break me out. Two thumbs up. Next up, I have been using the Fresh Cream by Philosophy Body Lotion. Guys, this stuff smells so good. So good. Like vanilla cake. It’s light, fresh, and super moisturizing. I love Philosophy and have honestly forgotten about them until I saw this scent on Instagram. If you like sweet but fresh scents, check this out. I’ve been living in it. Lastly, I recently picked up the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm. I’ve heard so much about the Agave Lip Mask and when I saw that they released the Lip Balm version, I promptly ordered it from Sephora. Bite makes such good lip products (their matte creme lipsticks are some of my favorites) and this lip balm is no exception. Very hydrating, light and smooth. It lasts for hours and the packing, as with all Bite products, is so sleek and cool. I love this lip balm and highly recommend it!

I’m pretty low maintenance with my hair. I mostly wear it straight or curled with a curling rod, or leave it curly on days where I want to give it a break from heat styling. I don’t have issues with volume, but I do occasionally notice that my hair gets flat when it’s humid out. To cure that, I use the Living Proof Dry Volume Blast. This stuff smells amazing, and works so well to add texture and volume to all types of hair. Now, I use this more on my super clean hair days, when I need a better hold or texture. One of the best texturizing sprays I’ve found. Living Proof is the best when it comes to hair products. I love their Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo as well.

For Christmas, my sister and brother in law gave me a Kate Spad card holder, and I LOVE it. I like to go without a purse whenever I can, especially if I’m just running a quick errand or going somewhere where a purse will be a hassle. This little card case is perfect to carry just the cards I need, and make them easily accessible. It’s my new favorite thing.

I picked up a new pair of earrings from Baublebar at Nordstrom, and I LOVE them. Tassle earrings are a somewhat new thing, rather they are to me, but I love the trend. I picked up the Baublebar Paiden Tassel Drop Earrings on sale over Christmas holidays and I’m a huge fan. Now, these guys are heavy. I’ve worn them to work a couple times, but they are definitely on the heavier side and can be annoying to be in all day. But the weight is worth it, because they are so pretty on! I have my eye on a couple other styles like these:

And that’s it! Let me know in the comments what you’ve found recently that you love.

Happy Tuesday!

Bite Beauty: The Matte Creme Lipstick

Hello lovelies!

Influenster and their lovely team sent me some super fun lipsticks from Bite Beauty, and asked me to review them. I received the Multistick’s last time from Bite, so I was super excited to receive their new lipsticks. I received three colors: Cava (a lavender-pink shade), Glace (a taupe-y, pinky nude) and Red Velvet (a gorgeous red). I love the formula of these lipsticks. They are creamy, moisturizing, and while they aren’t the most long-lasting lipsticks I own, they still have quite a bit of staying power. I filmed a quick video about them on my youtube channel and will post some pics below of the different looks wearing them. Let me know if you have tried them!

Thank you Influenster for sending these to me!

trendy tuesday: new makeup favorites

2016-11-01 04.19.33 1.jpg

Hello lovelies!

I’ve tried out a few new makeup tidbits that I thought I would share with you! I was in the market for a new powder and mattifying primer and Soap and Glory makeup recently dropped at Walgreens & Ulta in my city. I couldn’t have been more excited, as everyone raves about their eyebrow pencil, powder and bodycare. I picked up two products from them: The One Heck of a Blot Mattifying Powder, and the One Heck of a Blot Instant-Perfecting Power Primer. Both are fantastic for oily skin ladies. The primer sits very nicely on the skin, and is non-oily, not greasy, and super smooth. It comes in a huge tube, and priced at $14, this primer is going to last me for a LONG time. I apply it in the morning with my Beauty Blender, and it makes my makeup last at least 4-5 hours longer. The powder is also very good, in that it is very finely pressed and milled. It sits nicely on the skin, and you don’t need a whole lot for it to work. My only complaint would be that mine seemed to crack super quickly, so I’ve had to be careful with it. I rate both, so definitely check them out!

Now, let’s talk NARS. If I had to pick one brand of makeup that I love, one that I recommend to everyone, one that I would buy every product of, it would be NARS. NARS makeup is so pretty, and lovely, and chic. I love their foundation, their powder, their blush, their lipstick, everything. Love, love, love. Weirdly, I had never tried their concealer, as I always just picked up the Maybelline Fit Me one from Target. On my last visit to Sephora, gift card in hand, I decided to try out the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Cannelle. It’s delicious. Can concealer be delicious? It’s creamy, smooth, and long-lasting. A few people have mentioned how bright my makeup has been, especially under my eyes, and it is all thanks to this beauty (along with a new eye cream I picked up) and some powder. This concealer is legit, and I see now why everyone is so obsessed with it. Along with this concealer, I am now the proud owner of one of the NARS Audacious Lipsticks in Anna. This color is gorgeous. A purple-y, mauve-y, pink-y shade, it’s super appropriate for this time of year. It’s a creamy formula, but not sheeny, which I cannot handle in my lipsticks. It’s moisturizing, and the packaging is sleek and with the magnetic closure, may just be my favorite lipstick I own. Definitely want more colors of the Audacious line.

And that’s it! I’ve been running to my trusty favorites for foundation and bronzer, but have loved trying out the new products I’ve picked up! Let me know in the comments if you have picked up anything fun in the recent weeks.

Talk soon!

Drugstore favorite: NYX Blushes

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset
From Top Left: Summer, Electro, Intuition, Amber

Hello lovelies!

Here’s a quick little post of one of my favorite makeup products: blushes! Blush is a must-have for me, one of my staple products. There are SO many colors, brands, consistencies, and formulas out there, but one of my favorite brands is NYX Cosmetics. They have various kinds of blushes: Cream blushes, their “baked” blushes, and their regular run of the mill powder blushes. But, my favorites are the NYX High Definition blushes. They are long-lasting, highly-pigmented, and are easy to blend and build up. And at about $6 at your local Target or CVS, they are super affordable. I have four NYX HD blushes currently: Electro, Intuition, Summer, and Amber. Electro is a super hot fuschia pink, perfect for a super rosy cheek. Intuition is my newest blush, a taupe-y, shimmery, nude, perfect for red lip days. Amber is similar to Intuition, but a slightly peachier, matte version. Summer is an apricot, bright, shimmery, and perfect for summer and spring. It reminds me of Nars Orgasm (one of my favorites!) but with more of a coral tone.

Let me know in the comments if you like NYX, and what else I should try by them!

Happy Sunday!

beauty bits.

2016-09-23 05.11.29 1.jpg

Hello lovelies!

You know the drill. I went to Ulta. I bought the things. I tried them. And now I am telling you about them.

I was in the market for a new foundation, as I am trying to wear lighter coverage foundations. I am normally a full coverage kinda gal, but lately, I’ve been gravitating towards a lighter, more fluid foundation. I really like the Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua, but it tends to break me out, so I don’t use that one all too often. I read lots of reviews and one that I kept seeing recommended was Bare Minerals Bare Skin Foundation. I picked up the shade in 12 Bare Sand (slightly yellow undertones). I gave this foundation a good week before I formed an opinion, and I have to say I really like it. I’m not over the moon about the consistency, because it is very liquid-y. Like water. More so than the Chanel one, and that one is pretty water-y. So it takes a little getting used to. However, the coverage, even though it is a lighter coverage foundation, is fantastic. It creates a smooth, fresh, and super dewy complexion. For summer, I’d pass on this one, as I already have enough natural “dewiness” in the summer. But for autumn/fall, this one is perfect. I use it with my BeautyBlender, just a few drops worked in well creates a beautiful complexion. I do find I need a good primer with this one though, which brings me to my next beauty favorite. I got a sample of the Cover Fx Illuminating Primer in my Ipsy bag. Somehow, it ended up in a random makeup bag and I forgot about it. I’m so glad I found it because I’ve been rationing this baby out. This primer is seriously illuminating. I have tried another primer similar to this, the L’Oreal Magic Lumi Primer, and I liked it, but it made me super oily. This primer helps keep me matte, with also giving me a beautiful, lit from within, glow. The full size version in waiting in my Sephora cart at the moment. Super love.

My last favorite is one from the drugstore, and is now a staple in my makeup bag. This is a holy grail product, people. It’s the Voluminous Original Mascara by L’Oreal. Super simple, super familiar, and super good. This mascara grabs each and every one of my little tiny lashes and magnifies them.  It doesn’t run, and adds some serious volume to my lash line, which I desperately need. Aside from a Bobbi Brown mascara, this is THE best mascara I have ever used. **Also, pictured at the beginning of the post, my favorite lipstick I mentioned earlier on the blog: Maybelline’s Creamy Mattes in Nude Nuance. Super LOVE.

Let me know what your makeup favorites are of the moment. I’ll be back this weekend with a post over a super long book I read, and a podcast post.

Talk soon,

Steffanie xo

skin savers

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Hello lovelies!

Beauty post here. This one is all about my skin savers for fall. As autumn approaches, thankfully, comes cooler weather. But that means that my skin needs a little extra boost, so here are my picks to do just that.

The first one is a moisturizer from Aveeno. I have’t ever tried any Aveeno products for the face. I’ve used the leave in conditioner (super LOVE) and the body wash, but never tried out the skincare. Well, after reading a few reviews and a article in Allure, I decided to pick up the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer.

This is a super light moisturizer, that leaves my skin hydrated and dewy. No excess oil or large pores. Just soft, smooth, skin. I have tried quite a few moisturizers, ranging from high end to drugstore (one of my favorites is by Kate Somerville-expensive, but worth it), and I believe that this is my new favorite drugstore one. Wears really well under makeup, and on most days, my skin looks more luminous and creates less oil.

Next on the list, is a face mask I got from Lush Cosmetics. Lush is one of my favorite stores to visit, because it smells so good, and is so fun to visit. I went in looking for the Oatifix Face Mask, and left with the mask, a new lip balm, a bath bomb and a face wash sample. Oops. The mask is fantastic. It’s primarily for sensitive, dry or irritated skin. When I bought it, I was having an issue with my chin being super dry and flaky, and broken out. I bought this mask and in less than a week, my skin was super hydrated, and the pimples were gone. It’s made up of mostly bananas, oats and almonds, and smells so good, almost like cookies. I love this mask, and though Lush masks can be messy, they are super effective.

*Honorable mention: for those who struggle with acne prone skin, check out the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask. One of the most effective acne fighting products out there. Clears acne up in no time.

Last but not least, is the Rose Hibiscus Facial Spray from Herbivore. Super hydrating, I use this little beauty as a skin pick me up during the day, and before bed. It smells wonderful and gives your skin a more plump, hydrated look. Herbivore is one of my favorite natural skin care brands. The packaging is beautiful. Very minimal and pretty. Definitely check out Herbivore if you haven’t yet.

Those are my top choices for the coming cool weather season. Let me know in the comments your tricks for moisturized skin.

Happy Saturday!

Bite Beauty: The Multistick

Bite Beauty Multistick

From Left: Blondie, Macaroon, Cocoa

Hello lovelies!

Beauty post coming to you today. About a year ago, I signed up for this cool site called Influenster, and subsequently forgot all about it. I got an email about a week ago from Influenster, asking if I’d like to try out the new Bite Beauty Multistick, with instructions to fill out a quick survey. I did, and they sent me a box with three of them! Super exciting. I am a huge fan of quick, multitasking makeup products, as I like to wake up approximately 20 minutes before I have to leave my house. A girl needs her sleep, ya’ll.

These little gems are fantastic! They are compact, and in the prettiest, chic-est packaging. The magnetic closure is the coolest thing, and the case is nice and weighty. I received three colors from Influenster: Cocoa, Macaroon & Blondie. Cocoa is a deep brown, which is fantastic for a good contour, a smoky eye, and a vampy lip for fall. I’m already in love with how it looks on my lips. Blondie is a perfect eye shadow base, as it is a neutral taupe. It may also be a good nude lip, but I’m not sure yet on that. Macaroon is a pretty rose color, which is perfect for blush and a rosy pink pout. I’ll probably be wearing it every day this autumn.

The Multisticks are creamy but also powdery, which are perfect for my super oily skin. I usually do not do well with cream based products, but the staying power on these beauties is amazing. The color payoff is also pretty fantastic.

Cocoa on lips and for contour, Macaron on cheeks, and Blondie on eyes.

All around, these sticks are amazing, and for $24, you have a lipstick, blush, and eyeshadow, all in one. Heck of a deal. I can’t wait to try more colors and products by Bite Beauty.

Happy weekend. xx

All opinions are my own and I was not paid for this review, however the products were sent to me for reviewing purposes. Huge thank you to Bite BEauty and Influenster for sending me the Multisticks to try out.

Target Haul

I love Target. It’s like every beauty-product loving’s heaven, with the added bonus of being able to grocery shop there. I recently needed um, everything, it seemed when it came to the toiletries section of my bathroom. I decided to give some new products a try this go round, because I was pretty bored of the things I was using. Here’s a peak into what I bought.

+Tresemme PERFECTLY (UN)DONE Shampoo, Conditioner & Wave Creation Sea Foam

This range smells and is one of my favorites from Tresemme. Being that I have naturally curly hair, this range has relaxed my curls a bit, and make for a better hold when I actually use a hair wand on it. To use the Wave Creation Sea Foam, I blow dry my hair with a pump of it already in my hair, and then work a bit into my hair after I have curled it. It’s give the needed texture and hold to your waves, without making it crunchy or sticky or stiff. It’s good stuff.

+ Eos Sweet Mint Lip Balm & Raspberry Pomegranate Shave Cream

I love the eos brand. They make such moisturizing products, and I love their packaging. Their hand creams are one of my favorite things! This lip balm smells good enough to eat, and being that it is all organic, you probably could. You may get super weird looks when you are using it, but I love it too much to care. This is probably my 20th bottle of the shave cream and it is still my favorite scent. So moisturizing and hydrating, I’ve never found a shave cream like it.

+ The Wet Brush Squirt

I’ve heard so many people talk about this brush. They swear by it, saying that if you have tangly, messy hair to buy this. So I bought the mini, because it’s cute and a perfect fit for my shower, and I am so glad I did. It glides through my hair after I have washed it. Like literally glides through it. No tangles, no knots, no snags. All gliding. (I’m so serious about how well this works I dare you to try it on your tender-headed niece, nephew, daughter, or anyone you know with a mess of hair.) I keep mine in my shower for any time I need a good brush after I wash my hair.

+ Mitchum Deodorant for Women

I usually use an aluminum-free deodorant by Tisserand, but sometimes, that just doesn’t cut it. I’m all about healthy pits, but not when I start to smell. That’s a no-no. I used to use Dove, but it always itched (TMI?) so I stopped using it. I saw this in Target and actually had looked for this in several places, when I just happened to find it. It smells SO GOOD. And no itchy pits here.

+ Rimmel ScandalEYES Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

My Maybelline Eyeliner finally dried up. I think I was going on two years with that one. I picked this one up after having a browse between all of the brands liquid liners. Really liking it so far. No smudging, easy to apply, lasts forever.

+Simply Venus Disposable Razors

They’re razors. They work. The end.

And with that, I say adieu! Let me know if you have found anything at Target recently that you are loving!

The Best of 2014: Makeup

Hi all! So I thought it would be fun to do a “Best Of 2014” series on my blog, covering beauty, books/movies, and maybe a third category, but I am not sure yet. {Suggestions are welcome!} Today I’ll start with the makeup category, by laying out all of my favorite beauty bits from last year! Below, I listed all of my favorite products, the ones either discovered this year or that came out this year and I have been obsessed with. Enjoy!

Best Foundation: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation– Just the best. For people with sensitive skin, or really any skin type, I urge you to try this foundation. Best ever.

Best Drugstore Foundation: Rimmel Match Perfection– I wore this the other day and fell back in love. The best 5 bucks I’ve ever spent on a makeup product.

Best Under-Eye Concealer: Bobbi Brown Corrector– seriously, if you struggle with dark circles, try this. at $25 for a tiny pot, I can honestly say this is the best under-eye product. Very brightening and conceals everything.

Best concealer: Maybelline FitMe Concealer- a creamy, easily blend-able concealer. Does a great job of making skin look flawless.

Best Powder: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light-a great setting powder if you want to ke

Best Blush: NYX Dusty Rose (not pictured, because mine is broken!)- I think I wore this blush like 90% of this year. Such a perfect, year-round blush.

Best Bronzer: Nars Laguna-A cult for a reason. Perfect, matte brown bronzer, adds just the right warmth.

Best Highlighter: The Balm Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter– I mean, just look at it, swatch it in store and buy it. It’s the most beautiful champagne highlighter I’ve ever seen/used.

Best Liquid Eyeliner: Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner in Black– I don’t even remember purchasing this product, that’s how long I have had it. But it works! I’ve only used this liquid liner all year, and I believe it is one of the best I have ever used.

Best Eye Palette: Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette- This was a more recent discovery, but I can guarantee you, I’ll be using this palette through next December. It has some of the best nudes I’ve ever seen on a eyeshadow palette.

Best Drugstore Eyeshadow: Maybelline Color Tattoo in ‘Creamy Beige’– Creamy, blendable and super long-lasting, this eye shadow is a perfect base for any eye color, or just on it’s own. It makes you look like you’ve done a lot more work in the shading, than you actually have done. Yes.

Best High End Mascara (not pictured because I don’t have it anymore!): Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara– if I were going  to pay for a high-end mascara everytime I ran out, I would choose this one. It lenghthens, volumizes, and gives the best definition.

Best Drugstore Mascara: Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara– I’ve gone through about 5 tubes of this now, and I am still loving it!

Best lip products: {because seriously, who can pick just one?!}

Best Drugstore Formula: Revlon Matte Balm in “Striking” and “Sultry”. These matte balms are my favorite formula for a matte lip look. They’re easy to tote round, come in beautiful shades, and last forever! I don’t find them to be drying, and they are so easy to apply.

Best Lip Gloss: Maybelline Color Elixir in “Caramel Infused”- a perfect neural lip gloss. Love the formula of these, as they are very moisturizing and not sticky.

Best Neutral Lipstick: Maybelline Creamy Mattes in “Touch of Spice”– This is literally almost exactly the same color as the Revlon Matte Balm mentioned above, just slightly more rose-y toned. The formula of this lipstick is so weird and wonderful, being a creamy, moisturizing lipstick, in a matte finish. Best of both worlds in my book, or, er, makeup bag.

Best Red: MAC Retro Matte Ruby Woo– really, this should not surprise anyone. Ruby Woo is making an appearance on almost every makeup site and video, and for good reason. If you want a true matte, not going to budge, last all night lip formula, Ruby Woo is the one for you.
